I received the order of "Lose Your Accent in 28 Days." I have to let you know that I am EXTREMELY happy with the method. It is AMAZING and VERY ADDICTING. I have improved my pronunciation already in less than a week, since it is very clear and easy to remember. Therefore, I have been referring people to you so they can get the method. Once again, thank you for the bottom of my heart for helping people like me.

"I was very pleased with your program "Lose Your Accent in 28 Days." I used it on my husband (who is a native French speaker) and found it worked wonderfully! The lessons are explained in a brief and very understandable way, and it is fun and easy to use. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in improving their accent in American English."

— Kathryn Laurent, Language Program Manager, IOR Global Services, USA

“Lose Your Accent in 28 Days” has an easy to use format that makes me look forward to studying every day. The CD-ROM is a great tool. It’s like you have a one-to-one interaction with the instructor. The camera shows a close-up of the instructor’s face and you can see how to place the lips and mouth. That really helps you grasp the difference in sounds. The CD-ROM has a re-play button, so you can see and listen to difficult words and sounds over and over again until you get them right. After using this system, I realize how important it is to pronounce each sound correctly, as Americans do, so they understand me. I’m seeing a big improvement in my pronunciation and it’s exciting!

— Cristina N. (originally from Romania, now living in the USA )

“Lose your Accent in 28 Days” helped me a lot to speak English correctly. It tells me how to pronounce a word and how to pronounce the vowels. It shows what your mouth and tongue should look like when you speak the vowels, and the book usually teaches two vowels at the same time, so you can compare the vowels and you can see the difference between them. You can see what your mouth should look like by watching the video CD. There are a lot of common words and common sentences with the vowels that you can practice with. It really helped me to speak English and my English improved in a short period of time. I think this is a great book to use if you want to speak English correctly.

What the press is saying:

Vadim Yarmolinets, Novoye Russkoye Slovo newspaper :

Of course, many Americans are tolerant towards the accents of their new neighbors, but nobody will argue with the fact that to speak well is a good thing. Question: how do you learn to do this? Answer: with the help of the new system by Judy Ravin: “Lose Your Accent in 28 Days.”

The first part of this book (which comes with a CD-ROM and audio CD) is divided into two parts: pronunciation of vowels and consonants. This is the foundation of the course. The second part struck me as particularly interesting, as the author identifies by chapter the standard phonetic situations which occur regularly in everyday speech. For example, joining words with articles or words with the same sounds. Another useful section “Everyday Speech Patterns” covers the typical shortening of words which are very common in our everyday speech: “Lemme” instead of “let me,” “gimme” instead of “give me” and “didja” instead of “did you.” Altogether “Lose Your Accent in 28 Days” covers 25 situations, which may help you, as they say, speak American.

In my years of studying foreign languages, I took the advice of my professor: Language is a collection of clichés. When a small child is learning to speak, he doesn’t start with grammar. He simply repeats after his parents. The textbooks published by Language Success Press of Ann Arbor embody this recommendation in the best possible way. I have in mind Amy Gillett’s book “Speak English Like an American” and now “Lose Your Accent in 28 Days” by Judy Ravin.

Ravin’s resource offers an invaluable addition: a CD-ROM with video clips showing exactly how to pronounce each individual target sound or how to pronounce these sounds in a phrase. Any person who’s ever tried to master phonetics has heard of articulation. The author offers specific instruction on where to place the mouth and tongue in order to pronounce the sound or word correctly. Having studied in the pre-computer age, I myself learned this technique with the help of a mirror in front of my mouth. Working with the CD-ROM, included with the book, you can repeat sounds and words, observing the movement of the instructor’s mouth on your computer screen. That’s simply convenient and interesting.

I won’t confirm that by using Ravin’s system you will for sure get rid of your accent in 28 days. Some may need 29, for others it may take several months. But I can say without a doubt that this system will help you tell your accent, “Hasta la vista, baby!” which in conversational English means “See ya!”

Review by Midwest Book Review:

Having taught English as a Second Language and Accent Reduction Techniques for more than a decade at universities and for corporations, Judy Ravin is the also CEO of English Communication Services, an accent reduction training company. In "Lose Your Accent In 28 Days," Ravin draws upon her many years of professional experience to develop a system for accent reduction that includes an instruction book enhanced with an interactive CD-ROM and an audio CD that shows the learner how to produce the sounds of the English language. This provision of a visual and audio reinforcement to the typical audio cassette for language instruction is a major advance, along with Ravin's provision of 80 distinct techniques for better pronunciation. "Lose Your Accent In 28 Days" is applicable to students of all language backgrounds and would be of special value for immigrants aspiring to succeed in the American corporate, academic, broadcast journalism, or entertainment industries

"Bloody right," you say; "ya'all come back now, ya' hear," you may suggest; "that's vonderful, good vork," you may exclaim. As you can see, in an international community, there are often a clash of accents and dialects. And while many of us find them to be charming or distinctive, others see them as an impediment to career success. That's where Judy Ravin of English Communication Services comes in with her accent reduction programs and four-part book/CD-ROM, audio and workbook package, "Lose Your Accent in 28 Days..."
